Lex Luger (unverified) 06/29/2019 07:53I have a guitar that is just like this one except it is Torino Red. It is a 1985 model and I got it used in 1992. Another name of this guitar is the ST-331 Stratocaster. It's a great guitar and fun to play. When I decided I wanted to learn how to play and I got my first guitar, I went to the local music store to see what they had. I knew absolutely nothing about guitars so I was clueless but I saw the Fender logo on it and I knew Fender was a good brand so I picked it out. $125. I had no idea what "Made in Japan" signified so I didn't search out a Japanese Squier, I just kind of ended up with it. It was my first guitar, and I'm fortunate to have been able to learn on such an easy playing guitar. In the early 1990s, most low-priced guitars were garbage. This one is a real Japanese Fujigen Gakki built guitar, a professional quality instrument. The guitar is only routed for the one pickup, and it is a solid block where the neck and middle pickup would normally be. Oddly enough, the ST-331 has a 24.75 inch scale that is more typical of Gibsons than the 25.5 inch scale of 99% of the non-student model Fenders. Mine didn't have the original Dragstar pickup when I bought it but it's had an Epiphone pickup, a cheap Select by EMG pickup but now it has a DiMarzio Super Distortion that sounds great.
